Raven and the First Sunrise

A mural project remaining accessible to youth and adults alike, this mural tells a Kwantlen classic story of Raven in connection with the creation story across several glass panels of Guildford Public Library.

Commissioned by Guildford Public Library, Raven and the First Sunrise is a mural telling the classic story mentioned as a part of the Kwantlen creation story. This classic grounding told contemporarily is accessible to children and adults, inspiring awe.

In the beginning of time, during the upheaval of floods and as the magnetic forces of the planet were still forming, a supernatural being emerged from the nothingness of that abyss and harnessed these chaotic energies. This being, Raven, collected and expressed these energies and ushered in the first dawn. Raven brought about the sun to rise.
